                                   Where Is the Pope From?

The current Pope, Pope Francis, was born as Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina on December 17, 1936. He is the first Pope from South America, and also the first Jesuit to be elected Pope in the history of the Roman Catholic Church.

                                    Early Childhood and Family

Pope Francis was raised in a working-class family of Italian immigrants. His father was a railway worker, and his mother was a homemaker. He grew up in a simple, faithful environment and experienced health challenges early in life — including the removal of part of his lung due to infection.Despite difficulties, he pursued his education and felt a strong spiritual calling from a young age.
